Our Mission
EVChargeBase exists to answer one question clearly and honestly: what does it actually take to charge an electric vehicle at home?
When we started this site, we noticed that most information about home EV charging was scattered across three places that didn’t talk to each other: manufacturer marketing pages (which understandably favor their own products), general automotive blogs (which cover EVs broadly but rarely go deep on charging infrastructure specifically), and scattered forum threads (which are often accurate but hard to search and impossible to verify). We built EVChargeBase to bring that information together in one place — practical, specific, and written for homeowners actually making a decision, not just browsing.
What We Cover
EVChargeBase focuses specifically on home Level 2 EV charging — not electric vehicles in general, and not public charging networks. That narrow focus is intentional. It lets us go deeper on the questions that actually come up when you’re deciding on and installing a home charger:
- Charger comparisons — how specific models like ChargePoint, Tesla Wall Connector, Emporia, Grizzl-E, JuiceBox, Autel, and Wallbox actually differ in practice, not just on a spec sheet
- Installation guidance — amperage, electrical panels, permits, and what installation really costs, based on real-world scenarios
- Incentives and rebates — federal, state, and utility programs, which change often enough that we track and update them regularly
- Maintenance and troubleshooting — what to do when something isn’t working, and when a DIY fix is appropriate versus when to call a licensed electrician
Our Approach to Recommendations
We do not sell, install, or manufacture any of the products we write about. Our comparisons and “best of” guides reflect our own research and editorial judgment, based on publicly available specifications, manufacturer documentation, and how each product is designed to perform for specific use cases.

A Note on Electrical Safety
Home EV charging involves real electrical work — typically a dedicated 240-volt circuit capable of drawing 30-60 amps continuously. We take this seriously in how we write: our installation and electrical content is meant to help you understand the process, ask the right questions, and evaluate quotes with confidence — not to replace a licensed electrician. Every article that touches on wiring, panels, or circuits says so directly, and we mean it.
How We Keep Content Current
Incentive programs, product specifications, and pricing change regularly. We review and update our content periodically to reflect current information, and we note explicitly when a program or figure is time-sensitive (such as the federal home charger tax credit’s expiration in 2026) rather than leaving outdated information live.
